Cardiff Blues flanker Ellis Jenkins has been called up to replace the injured Dan Lydiate for Wales' tour of New Zealand.

A Welsh Rugby Union statement confirmed Jenkins will take Lydiate's place in Warren Gatland's squad after the Ospreys man damaged his shoulder in Sunday's 27-13 loss defeat to England.

"Lydiate, who led Wales against England at Twickenham this afternoon, has suffered a shoulder injury, which he will fail to recover from in time for the three-Test series," said the statement.

"Uncapped Cardiff Blues flanker Jenkins, a former Wales U20 captain, will link up with the squad before they depart for New Zealand on Monday evening."

Wales are scheduled to play three matches against New Zealand next month, with the first game taking place at Auckland's Eden Park on June 11.
