Wests revealed on Friday that an $8.5million deal had been agreed between Wests Ashfield and Balmain to put an end to concerns over the sustainability of the club.

And there was further good news later in the day, when Wests secured a third win in their last four games at the expense of a Broncos side missing six players who are on State of Origin duty.

Third-placed Brisbane took an early lead when Greg Eden latched onto a pass from Jordan Kahu to score his maiden NRL try 11 minutes in, but Wests led 12-8 at half-time after Elijah Taylor scored his first try for the club and Tim Simona also touched down.

The Broncos only trailed by two points at 14-12 11 minutes into the second half when James Roberts took an offload from Ben Hunt to go over, but Josh Addo-Carr's converted try gave Wests breathing.

Mitchell Moses' drop-goal four minutes from time gave Jason Taylor's side a seven-point advantage and a converted Lachlan Maranta score proved to be too little, too late for the Broncos.
