Randy Wittman does not agree with Kobe Bryant's decision to retire, so much so that the Washington Wizards coach might ask him to play in the US capital.

Randy Wittman does not agree with Kobe Bryant's decision to retire, so much so that the Washington Wizards coach might ask the five-time NBA champion to play in the American capital next season.

Bryant, 37, will call it quits at the end of his 20th and final season, which has less than 10 games remaining.

The 18-time All-Star, who is averaging 17.1 points, four rebounds and three assists per game, said he had no intention of playing outside of Los Angeles following his announcement in November.

However, Wittman said: "I don't know why he's retiring.

"I might ask him to come play for the Wizards next year."

Bryant's farewell tour is on its last legs and the 2008 NBA MVP is not planning on sitting out any of the remaining fixtures.

The Lakers have four home games remaining, including their season finale against the Utah Jazz on April 13 - Bryant's anticipated final game.

They also will play in Utah, New Orleans, Houston and Oklahoma City in addition to one "away" game against the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center.

"Yes, unless something drastic happens, God forbid," Bryant said when asked if he was going to play in the remaining games.

"It's pretty crazy to think. I've got four home games left? That's kind of crazy.

"I didn't realise that until right before tip-off - five home games left, and now it's four. That's pretty crazy."
