Looking to strengthen their bullpen, the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday acquired right-handed pitcher Jason Grilli from the Atlanta Braves, the teams announced.

Toronto shipped 21-year-old pitcher Sean Ratcliffe (2-2, 3.60 ERA with Low-A Vancouver Canadians in 2015) in exchange for Grilli, an All-Star reliever in 2013 with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Grilli, 39, owns a dismal 5.29 ERA this season, but Toronto hope he can return to his 2013 form when Russell Martin, now a catcher for the Jays, was catching his pitches in Pittsburgh.

Grilli recorded 33 saves and a 2.70 ERA in his lone All-Star season.

Last season in Atlanta, he saved 24 games while sporting a 2.94 ERA.

Entering Tuesday's game with the New York Yankees, Blue Jays relievers own a 3.89 ERA (16th-best in MLB) but have been tagged with 14 losses this season, tied with the Cincinnati Reds for worst in baseball.

Ratcliffe was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 18th round of the 2013 MLB Draft but has yet to pitch this season.
