McLaren driver Fernando Alonso scored a stunning free-kick to help his side to a 3-1 win over Claudio Ranieri's All-Star XI on Tuesday.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Williams' Felipe Massa joined Alonso in swapping the race track for the football pitch in the annual pre-Monaco Grand Prix charity match.

The Formula One stars wore chequered flag-style shirts and were joined by the likes of former France internationals Emmanuel Petit and William Gallas, among others.

Ranieri, fresh from guiding Leicester City to a remarkable Premier League triumph this season, was in charge of the opposition but could not avoid defeat at Monaco's Stade Louis II.

Two-time F1 world champion Alonso scored twice in the win, including a brilliant free-kick into the top left-hand corner of the goal.

The Spaniard was quite happy with his strike, posting a video of the goal via his official Twitter account.

Alonso is a well-known Real Madrid supporter and will be hoping Cristiano Ronaldo can produce some similar magic in Saturday's Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
