A bogey-free round of seven under handed Romain Langasque a share of the lead at the European Masters after Friday's second day of play.

The Frenchman is tied with Australia's Richard Green and Richard Bland of England on nine under overall after two rounds at Crans-sur-Sierre.

Green hit five birdies in his second round but a bogey at the 17th prevented him from ending the day in the outright lead.

A run of four birdies in his final five holes helped Bland, who is yet to win on the European Tour, to draw level with Langasque.

But it was the 21-year-old who set the pace early in the day, his round featuring five birdies and an eagle three at the par-five 14th.

There were also seven-under rounds of 63 for Ross Fisher, Nathan Holman, Renato Paratore and Alex Noren in Switzerland, with the latter now just a single shot off the lead in a three-way share of fourth.

The defending champion Danny Willett was in contention after a 65 on Thursday, but six dropped shots in three holes, two bogeys and a quadruple bogey eight, saw him fall away.

A birdie at the 14th and the last allowed the Englishman to extend the defence of his title into Saturday and Sunday.

Ryder Cup rookies Andy Sullivan and Matthew Fitzpatrick were in danger of missing the cut after poor rounds on the first day of play and only one of the duo made it to the weekend.

Sullivan lost out by a single shot, while Fitzpatrick's four birdies in five holes at the end of his 65 extended his stay in the Alps, with their European Ryder Cup team-mates Chris Wood and Lee Westwood also making the cut.
