Ericsson has unexpected chicken encounter Sauber F1

A brave chicken caused an accident for Sauber's Marcus Ericsson during his pre-race preparations for the Malaysia Grand Prix.

Marcus Ericsson's preparations for the Malaysia Grand Prix this weekend were interrupted after an accident involving a chicken and a bicycle.

The Sauber driver was in Thailand ahead of the 16th race in the Formula One calendar, and was part of a group of 40 riders when the accident happened.

Ericsson came off his bike and needed medical attention to cuts on his arms, while one of the wheels on his bike was bent due to the collision.

It will not stop the Swede competing in Sepang, though, where he will hope to get his first points of the season.

In a series of Twitter posts, Ericsson explained the incident, writing: "Arrived in KL [Kuala Lumpur] today! As some of you've read I had a accident on the bicycle in Thailand. Lucky to get away with only bruises and scratches.

"Hitting a (big) chicken doing 45 km/h is not to recommend but I'm all patched up and ready for the weekend."

"And believe it or not the chicken kept on running! Not sure what they feed the chickens in Thailand because that was a big hit!"
