Gloucester came back to draw 23-23 at Sixways against Worcester Warriors in the Premiership on Friday after Alafoti Fa'osiliva was sent off.

Samoan international Fa'osiliva, who was released by Bath in May after he pleaded guilty to an assault charge, was dismissed after catching former Warrior Mariano Galarza in the head with an elbow.

Worcester had been hammered by Saracens last time out but looked on track for victory after Ben Te'o recorded a try on his home debut, with Australia international Cooper Vuna also scoring in the first half.

But after Fa'osiliva's red card, Matt Scott and Henry Purdy scored tries for Gloucester to peg the hosts back, although Worcester survived sustained late pressure to hold on for a draw in the first game on Worcester's new organic artificial pitch.

Recent signing Dan Mugford kicked 14 points as Sale Sharks recorded a 19-10 home win over Harlequins, with the decision by coach Steve Diamond to make five changes from the side that lost to Newcastle Falcons justified.

Quins won their first game against Bristol but trailed to three Mugford penalties before Chris Robshaw recorded the first try of the match, driving over from a maul to score.

But a David Seymour try early in the second half proved vital for Sale as the hosts eased to their first win of the new season, while the visitors' Mat Luamanu saw red for no arms in the tackle in the closing minutes.
