Kevin Durant dunks but quiet in Warriors debut

Kevin Durant dunked for his first points in a Golden State Warriors uniform, but finished with only nine in his debut.

Kevin Durant enjoyed a quiet Golden State Warriors debut on Saturday in an exhibition defeat to the Toronto Raptors.

Durant sensationally left the Oklahoma City Thunder to join the Warriors - linking up with unanimous MVP Stephen Curry - back in July.

The seven-time All-Star and 2014 MVP was criticised by many for moving to a team that overturned a 3-1 deficit to eliminate the Thunder in last season's Western Conference Finals and were one win away from back-to-back NBA titles.

And he was greeted with a smattering of boos at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, before going 2-of-9 from the field with four rebounds and three assists in a 97-93 loss in which the Warriors benched their starters for the second half.

Durant's first points as a Warrior came on a breakaway dunk before he later hit a three pointer on his ninth shot attempt.

"Just missing [shots], no rush for me, I felt great out there. Shot looked good. I don't know, tight rims, you've got to swish them in," Durant said.

"I think both teams, shots were going in and out the basket, but I feel like I should make every shot, so of course I was frustrated."

"It'll take some time," Warriors coach Steve Kerr told NBA TV. "Anytime somebody goes to a new team it's an adjustment, and maybe even more so when it's someone like Kevin whose played in one place for nine years.

"I thought he was fine … he missed some open shots that he'll hit, but he's going to fit right in to what we do."
