Rivers passes Fouts as Chargers' passing leader
Philip Rivers passed Dan Fouts as the San Diego Chargers' all-time passing leader on Thursday.
The pass gave Rivers 43,047 career passing yards.
Fouts, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993, finished his 15-year career with 43,040 passing yards.
"He's a championship-calibre quarterback," Fouts said of Rivers in August.
The New York Giants selected Rivers with the number four overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, but Rivers was traded to San Diego in exchange for Eli Manning, whom the Chargers took with the top pick.
Rivers has spent his entire 13-year career with the Chargers.
