Stephen Curry scored 46 points in three quarters on Wednesday as the record-breaking Golden State Warriors cruised to a 125-104 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

But when he was told what five-time championship winner and 2008 MVP Kobe Bryant did in his final NBA game, Curry was stunned.

Bryant's haul came from 50 shots, the most in an NBA game since Michael Jordan had 49 in 1993.

"Wow, wow, wow. Kobe had 60?! That man's incredible," Curry said of Bryant's performance in the Lakers' 101-96 win over the Utah Jazz.

Curry then joked that he would have lobbied coach Steve Kerr to play in the fourth quarter had he known what the 37-year-old Bryant was doing 370 miles to the south.

"Somebody should have told me," Curry added following the Warriors' win, which was Golden State's 73rd of the season to set an NBA single-season record for wins.

"I was glad we didn't have to play him in the fourth quarter," Kerr told reporters after the game. "It all worked out."

While Bryant's 20th season and career have ended, Curry and the Warriors move on to defend their NBA title.
