Asamoah Gyan pays tribute to Brazilian side Chapecoense

The Black Stars skipper has sent his condolence to the families of the Brazilian club who were killed in a plane crash on Monday.

The team were travelling to Medellin to play Atletico Nacional in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final - the equivalent of the Europa league - on Monday night.

"I am saddened by the news of the plane crash which has taken away souls of innocent persons. I join all people of different religions in prayers to the most high God to give our brethren peaceful rest. Again, it is also our prayerful plea that God provides comfort to the bereaved families and the entire citizenry of the countries of their origin. May the sorrowful demise of our departed friends and loved ones lead us to a better world of togetherness and unity." Asamoah Gyan, Captain, Ghana Black Stars

Reports coming out of Brazil on Tuesday evening claimed that other clubs would loan players to Chapecoense for free and ask that they be exempt from relegation for three years.
