1.Canada
Team Canada had a stylish Olympic uniform that deserves a gold medal just for it’s colour, impeccable tailoring and the signature maple leaf adornments. The uniforms were designed by fashion design brand, DSquared2 and with production credits going to Hudson’s Bay, one of Canadian largest department store.
2. Britain
With the Britain’s capital, London being one of the world’s fashion capitals it was not shocking to see the Brits come out well tailored jackets by Stella McCartney in collaboration with Adidas. You could feel the United Kingdom’s heritage as play with the use of the country’s new coat of arms and the Union Jack colors in the navy blue leggings, white sweaters, red accents throughout the uniforms. The large Great Britain embroidery printed all over the uniform was the perfect way to brand these athletes.
3. USA
Team USA also came to this year’s competition in full fashion and we all can tell why especially with Ralph Lauren as it’s designer. The USA uniform included white shorts, button-down shirts, striped belts and the signature Polo logo with a man on a horse playing the game. The preppy aesthetic with nautical inspiration was seen in everything they wore from head to toe.
4. Brazil
Obviously, the host nation was bound to be in the list someway somehow but they honestly made it here with their floral print uniforms. The blue blazer and the fedora hat al made us remember Brazil for the beautiful nation it is. Perhaps they could have gone for a more carnival inspired look like we know them for but nevertheless they slayed
5. Benin
B is for Best dressed and it goes to this African team. Maybe their Nigerian neighbours could have consulted them before wearing those hideous tracksuits to the pitch. The Benin team even though quite small in number proved that wearing your country’s traditional outfits to a conference of 200 nation is the best thing you could ever do. We are certain their beautiful green headgears, red sash and yellow outfits have sent a message to the world about African style.
6. Togo
Since we are talking about Benin then let’s just talk about their neighbours Togo and their wonderful uniforms for the opening ceremony. The Togolese team created stunning African print shirts over white tailored pants as their official Rio Uniform. The world couldn’t take their eyes of the vibrant colours and proud team of athletes.
7. Australia
The Aussies also came to the games with stylish uniforms. They team chose to adorn themselves with pinstripe blazers over white pants and stylish scarfs that were inspired by the 1924 Olympics. 8
8. Indonesia
The Indonesian team looked fully regally in traditional costumes at the event. From red and white blazers to elegant headgears and wraps the team stole the hearts of many with users on social media hailing them as the best dressed at the event.
9. Tonga
The Tongan national team wasn’t bad after all with their traditional wear but what caught everyone’s attention was the heavily greased flagbearer who was also shirtless. The athlete has become such a hit on social media for his look but who can fault him when Tonga is the world’s leading exporter of body oil.
10. San Marino
The San Marino team didn’t look like they were there for a sporting tournament because they went hard on their style perhaps a little too black-tie. The ladies dazzled in midi white dresses and their men in full dapper suits.
