Last Saturday, the Black Maidens in their opening Group D game were walloped 5-0 by defending champions Japan.

On Tuesday, the national U-17 female team of Ghana went into their next game with high hopes and at the King Abdullah II Stadium they rallied from a goal down to stun USA, thanks to goals from Gifty Acheampong and Sandra Owusu-Ansah.

"Personally, I couldn't stand the thought of this team going out at this stage - because I knew my name would be mentioned as the leader of a team that had failed," she said after the game.

"I hate losing so much and I am very determined to be a successful Ghana captain. Like the rest of the girls, I had to stay mentally strong today. Now we have to beat Paraguay to get through, and I promise you that we will be ready for it,” she added.

Ghana will battle Paraguay in the last game of the Group on October 8th (Saturday) at the Al – Hassan Stadium.
