Black Stars midfielder officially apologizes to the GFA

Sulley Muntari has officially apologized to the Ghana Football Association for his actions at the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.

The Ghana international was suspended from the senior national team, the Black Stars due to indiscipline at the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.

In an aplogy letter addressed to the Ghana Football Association, Al Ittihad player Sulley Muntari writes:

I write to express my sincere apology to the Ghana Football Association and the entire nation for any embarrassment that my action in Brazil brought to the Black Stars Team, the Ghana Football Association and my beloved country Ghana.

I have reflected on what happened and I am deeply sorry and apologize to all the stakeholders in the GFA who were offended by my actions.

Ghana has a special place in my heart and I will forever be indebted to my country and all the fans who have supported me from the beginning.

I am always available to play for the Senior National Team of Ghana whenever I am invited.

The former Inter Milan and AC Milan player was handed an indefinite suspension during the FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil for an attack on Black Stars management committee member Moses Armah.

Muntari has since not featured for the senior national team of Ghana as the GFA expected an official apology from the midfielder before he was made available for selection by coach Avram Grant.

Sulley Muntari during his suspension period missed the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations where the Black Stars were edged to the trophy by Cote d’Ivoire on a penalty shootout in the final game of the tournament.

The Al Ittihad midfielder also missed the qualifiers which saw Ghana book a place in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations tournament set to be staged in Gabon.

German-born Ghanaian player Kevin-Prince Boateng was also suspended indefinitely for verbally attacking and disrespecting the then head coach Kwesi Appiah.

Boateng is yet to officially apologize to the Ghana Football Association for his actions.
