Radwanska cruises past rusty Suarez Navarro at Aus Open

Agnieszka Radwanska eased into her second Australian Open semi-final, brushing past a poor Carla Suarez Navarro on Tuesday.

The Polish fourth seed, who survived a huge scare against Anna-Lena Friedsam in the fourth round, took just 82 minutes to crush Suarez Navarro 6-1 6-3 on Rod Laver Arena.

Radwanska reached the last four in Melbourne in 2014 and has at least matched that performance after numerous errors from the Spanish 10th seed.

Suarez Navarro, bidding to reach a grand slam semi-final for the first time, committed five unforced errors in the opening game and her display barely improved.

Instead, her win-loss record in grand slam quarter-finals slipped to 0-5 on the back of 45 unforced errors.

With her left leg bandaged again, Radwanska was her clever and crafty self from the back of the court as she made it 10 straight wins to start the year.

The 2012 Wimbledon runner-up faces the winner of the clash between Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova in the last four.

Suarez Navarro, who lost the opening set 6-0 to Daria Gavrilova in the fourth round, made another slow start, producing five unforced errors in the first game against Radwanska.

Radwanska rolled out to a quick 4-0 lead and the errors continued to pile up for Suarez Navarro – from both sides – and she sent a forehand wide to see the first set done in 28 minutes.

An aggressive Suarez Navarro provided more of a contest early in the second as the players traded breaks and she took an 18-point sixth game to level at 3-3.

Radwanska battled to serve it out, but did so when Suarez Navarro committed yet another forehand error.
