Dominic Thiem fightback secures final berth in Metz

The final of the Moselle Open will see Dominic Thiem, who is seeking a fifth ATP World Tour title in 2016, face Lucas Pouille.

Dominic Thiem came from behind to beat two-time champion Gilles Simon at the Moselle Open and will now face another Frenchman, Lucas Pouille, in the final.

World number 10 Thiem, who is on course to qualify for the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals for the first time, lost the opening set of his last-four tie in Metz and saw his opponent serve for the match at 5-4 in the second.

However, Simon was unable to finish the job and Thiem prevailed 4-6 7-5 6-3 with the aid of 38 winners.

Thiem now has the opportunity to claim his first indoor hard-court title and a fifth tournament crown in 2016 alone.

Pouille, meanwhile, is one win away from a maiden triumph on the ATP World Tour after overcoming David Goffin 7-6 (8-6) 6-1.

Goffin lost the first three games of the match, but recovered to force an opening-set tie-break that his rival edged.

There was to be no similar fightback from the Belgian in set two, Pouille opening up a 4-0 lead on this occasion before breaking again to secure victory.
