Ashgold boycott FA Cup game against Kotoko

Exactly 2 years today, the Miners pulled out of the FA Cup Cup following a change of venue against their regional rivals

The Miners had earlier sent an appeal to the organizers of the competition against the change of venue from Kumasi to Accra due to home ban imposed on the Porcupine Warriors by the GFA for misconduct.

They, therefore, stated that if Accra was the only venue the organizers can settle on, then they should bear the additional cost of transportation and other cost they were going to suffer as a result of the punishment meant for Kotoko.

The Miners argued that the organizers allocated an amount of GHc1,200 for them to prepare for the game in Kumasi and because Accra was additional miles they needed an amount of GHC 7,000 to cover accommodation and the extra transportation  cost.

The MTN FA Cup organisers couldn't meet the demands of Ashgold, hence failed to turn up for the game.

Asante Kotoko were declared winners and automatically progressed to the semi final.

They defeated their city rivals King Faisal to book a place in the final and ultimately edged Inter Allies 2-1 to win the MTN FA Cup for 2014
