If you're an aviation buff and you happen to be in Atlanta, we highly recommend making a stop at the Delta Flight Museum.

This is not to say that only aviation buffs would find the Delta Flight Museum exciting. Offering a rare glimpse into aviation history and boasting relics such as the flight on which the Hollywood movie, 'Passenger 57'  was shot, a tour of this 68,000 square-foot museum is definitely time well spent.

The Delta Flight Museum started in 1995 as the Delta Air Transport Heritage Museum and was designated a Historic Aerospace Site in 2011. It however had a grand reopening on June 17, 2014 which coincided with Delta's 85th anniversary of passenger service.

1. Aviation history: The museum features interactive exhibits on the past, present and future of Delta Air Lines and air travel in general.

2. History comes alive: Interact with Delta employees who witnessed and contributed to the airline's rich history.

3. Rare museum pieces: Get a sneak peak into rare aviation items and aircrafts such as restored Travel Air and DC-3 passenger planes, a Waco 125 biplane (which is the only aircraft of its kind remaining).

4. Project 767: Walk around the Boeing 767 plane which was purchased for Delta by the employees.

5. Experience a flight stimulator: The Delta Flight Museum has the only full-motion flight simulator open to the public in the United States which is the same type used to train Delta pilots.

6. Event centre: Asides offering rich history, the Delta Flight Museum also boasts a 117-seat theatre and 30-seat conference room. It also has space for a 1,200 person seated dinner beneath the wings of the Spirit of Delta, the aircraft which was donated to Delta by its employees.

7. Delta Walk of Fame: The museum also spots a courtyard featuring engraved bricks purchased by Delta employees, retirees, loyal partners and customers so you can look out for bricks of anyone you know who fits into any of these categories.

8. Shop till you drop: The Delta Flight Museum Store sells aircraft models, clothing and accessories with the current Delta logo and a variety of vintage Delta logos.
