Aly Raisman had the best comeback after getting body shamed at the airport

Even Olympians aren't safe from BS comments about their bodies.

But Aly is also making a name for herself as a body-positive activist—and, as she just proved on social media, she doesn’t back down when it comes to body-shamers.

Aly, 23, went on Twitter Wednesday to open up about a messed-up encounter she had while going through airport security. She says that a female security officer asked if she was a gymnast, noting that she recognized her because of her biceps. Apparently a male TSA officer jumped in, stared at her, and said, “I don’t see any muscles.”

Aly says the guy was “very rude” and was “staring at me shaking his head like it couldn’t be me because I didn’t look ‘strong enough’ to him. Not cool.” Aly says the whole thing was “rude and uncomfortable” and then she got ticked off. We’re just going to let Aly take it over from here, because she says it better than anybody:

People overwhelmingly gave Aly props in the comments, saying she looks “incredible” and pointing out that “gold medals speak louder than some TSA guy.”

This isn’t the first time Aly has promoted body positivity. She appeared in this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, and wrote on Instagram about how “proud” she is of her body. “I of course like everyone else have my days where I feel insecure and not at my best,” she captioned a photo of herself from the shoot. “BUT I think it is that much more important we love our bodies and support each other.”

And in November, she also gave a “shout-out” on Instagram to the boys in school who used to make fun of her muscles as part of Reebok’s #PerfectNever campaign. "My muscular arms that were considered weird and gross when I was younger have made me one of the best gymnasts on the planet," she wrote. Damn right.

We’re glad Aly continues to find strength to fire back and turn unwarranted comments about her body into positive teaching moments.
