Emma Stone’s life may seem perfect from the outside, but the actress admits in a new interview that it’s not—and, she points out, neither is yours.

That’s why the La La Land star says she can’t stand looking at the flawless pictures people regularly post on Instagram. “It makes me so crazy to look at social media,” she tells . “When you see people like, 'This is the best life ever! I couldn't be happier,' you're like, 'Shut up, that is not true.'”

“Not everything comes together in the best way ever, every day. It just doesn't,” she says. “Even when your dream you set out for comes true, it's not always perfect... That's not the reality of life."

Case in point: Even though she’s a successful actress, Emma admits that she still grapples with the awkwardness that artists often feel. "I had that like yesterday at 4:30," she says. "I think that might be the life of a creative person, the ups and downs and security and insecurity. That's the lot in life when you're pushing yourself and always hoping to keep growing and expanding. It's emotionally tricky."

Emma isn’t the first person to point out that social media is an illusion—a growing number of fitness stars have been posting pics of stomach rolls and bloating to prove that what you see isn’t always reality.

BTW—Emma isn’t on Instagram or Twitter, and from the sound of it, she won’t be any time soon.
