Comedian OB Amponsah apologizes for saying 'Mahama' means 'corruption' in Hausa

OB Amponsah wowed patrons at the just ended 'December 2 Remember' concert with his performance but one political joke has left him in trouble.

During the Ghanaian comedian’s performance, he picked on names and how funnily such names can have an impact on bearers of the name. Whilst at it, OB mentioned “Mahama” and said it’s meaning in Hausa is "corruption".

Though the comedian at the show, immediately retracted what he said, emphasizing that it was only for a comic purpose, some viewers have described his joke as very sour and disrespectful one to former President John Dramani Mahama.

The backlash has pushed the comedian and his management to render an unqualified apology for his act at the 24th December Citi FM show. “In our quest to entertain Ghanaians, we may step on some toes and that would purely be accidental and not borne out of intention. We honestly apologize especially to the Former President.”
