Ghanaian runner Alex Amankwah failed to progress in the men’s 800m athletics at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil.

Alex placed sixth in his group of eight runners in heat 6, recording a time of 1:50.33.
Brandon McBride of Canada, Marcin Lewandowski of Poland and Mark English from Ireland placed first second and third respectively to qualify from their group.
Alex Amankwah is the fifth Ghanaian athlete to go out of the Rio Olympic Games after swimmers Kaya Forson and Abeiku Jackson, judoka Szandra Szogedi and boxer Abdul Omar all failed to progress in their respective competitions.
Ghana presented 16 athletes for the Rio Olympic Games in Brazil.
