The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, John Boadu, is to act as General Secretary of the party.
The National Executive Committee which took the decision on Thursday, also suspended the Second Vice Chairman Sammy Crabbe indefinitely. Some supporters of the party have began celebrating the punishment meted out to the two, as they pop champagne at the Asylum Down headquarters of the party.
Some big shots within the party, including presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, Haruna Esseku, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu among others were present at the meeting that saw the suspension of the two.
The Disciplinary Committee had earlier asked that Mr. Agyepong be given a 15-month suspension, while Mr. Crabbe was to be suspended indefinitely.
The General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong had last month faced the Disciplinary Committee of the party over a petition filed by four members of the party.
The petition to the disciplinary committee dated November 2, 2015 and copied to the National Executive Committee, National Council of Elders, the leader and presidential candidate Nana AKufo-Addo, the Acting National Chairman, and the NPP Deputy General Secretary accused Mr Agyepong of holding out Paul Afoko as the National Chairman contrary to the position of NEC and the NC.
The second national vice chairman of party, Sammy Crabbe had also declined to honour the invitation of the disciplinary committee of the party.
This follows a petition by two members of the party asking the disciplinary committee to suspend him.
Sammy Crabbe had questioned the locus of the committee to hear him after he refused to recognise Freddie Blay's appointment as acting National Chairman.
