Gerard Pique goes bankrupt after Lionel Messi wedding

In the run up to Leo Messi’s wedding to his long-term partner Antonella Roccuzzo, a ridiculous amount of news reports questioned whether Gerard Pique and Shakira would show up.

It’s a regular feature of the Spanish tabloids to claim that the Messis and the Piques aren’t the best off friends off the pitch.

The rumour stems from 2010, when Pique got together with the Colombian pop star. Prior to that relationship starting, Pique was dating one of Antonella Roccuzzo’s good friends.

Fast forwarding to last Friday, the Barcelona centre-half and South American star were both in attendance at the Messi wedding.

However, according to Clarin, after they left the event Pique’s evening took a turn for the worse.

Lost loads of money

According to Clarin, after the wedding Gerard Pique headed to a casino in the city centre of Rosario, where he proceeded to lose money.

In total, the Barcelona defender is said to have lost 15,000 dollars at the casino.

Putting that into context, however, Pique earns around six million euros a year at the Camp Nou.
