The National House of Chiefs has blamed last Saturday’s devastating gas explosion in Accra, and other disasters the nation has experienced on corruption and indiscipline.
The house is also of the view that disrespect for and non-enforcement of the country’s laws continue to endanger the lives of Ghanaians.
It further decried how in the last ten years, over 250 precious lives were lost in gas explosions.
In a statement on the Atomic Junction disaster, the house of chiefs emphasised the need to put in place holistic measures that must be strictly enforced in order to protect innocent lives and property.
While expressing condolence to families of bereaved families and those of injured victims, the chiefs suggested that fuel dealers properly train their personnel in safety standards.
The statement also commended the security, health, media and other relevant institutions for their timely response to the incident.
Below is the statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the house of chiefs, Stephen Owusu.
