The week-long celebrations began on Monday, with students being educated on relationship issues by Counselor Adofoli.
The celebrations continued on Tuesday, as the DUC SRC organised an awards night to recognise students who have excelled in their various fields in the past months.
But there was much more in store for students, as a soccer fiesta was organised on Wednesday at the AsamoahGyan Sports Centre in Accra.
Hosts DUC were joined by Lancaster University, Wisconsin University College and the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) to compete for the ultimate trophy.
In a straight knock-out format, DUC were paired with Lancaster University for the opening game of the tournament.
Both schools presented formidable team, ensuring that the game went into the first half without either side registering a goal.
However, DUC came out in the second half as the better side and rightly posted to a 2-0 win over Lancaster University, eliminating them in the process.
The second game was also equally exciting, with UPSA and Wisconsin University slugging it out for a place in the final.
The game begun on a slow note, but Wisconsin proved to be the real deal with a commanding 3-1 win over UPSA.
Wisconsin subsequently advanced to the final, where they played against DUC.
The grand finale saw two very tactical teams go head-to-head against each other, with the fans of both schools ardently cheering on their respective teams.
DUC, though, turned out to be the eventual winners after beating Wisconsin by three goals to one (3-1) in the final to retain the trophy they had brought.
The DUC team were presented with the trophy, as well as other products for emerging victors, while second-placed Wisconsin University also got products from Indomie.
The player of the tournament gong was also awarded to the DUC’s Richardson Agbator following his splendid displays in the tournament.
Speaking after the event, PRO of the DUC SRC, Felix AttahAkyea was impressed with the entire organisation of the soccer fiesta and thanked all stakeholders involved.
He commended all the other competing schools for honoring their invitation, while also praising the fans for their comportment and discipline during the whole tournament.
The DUC Soccer Fiesta was sponsored by Indomie, as part of the schools SRC Week celebrations.
The celebrations will, however, continue on Thursday, Friday Saturday and Sunday with a series of entertaining programmes lined up for all students of the university.
On Thursday the SRC will organize a blood donation exercise in the early hours of the day, before climaxing everything with a movie night in the evening.
There will also be a trip to Akosombo, where students will lodge at the plush Continental Hotel.
The week-long SRC week celebration will come to an end on Sunday with a thanks-giving service.
