A 34-year-old Joseph Sarpong has been arrested over the incident. His two other accomplices are, however, at large.

The police had upon intelligence proceeded to the scene where the three young men were about to load the suspected narcotics into a Kia Rhino Truck at Kpong near Akosombo for transportation to Tema port.

The police laid ambush when they arrived at the scene at Kpong within the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) farmstead.

They managed to arrest Sarpong but the two escaped, abandoning the truck which contained fertiliser sacks concealed under 100 bags of Global Ice sachet water.

The police sent the suspect and the truck to the Regional Police Headquarters for further investigation.

Upon a thorough search, the police identified the following items: eight white fertiliser sacks each containing 80 compressed slabs; 21 large fertiliser sacks concealed in big black polythene bags each containing 68 slabs, and four mini fertiliser sacks also containing 40 slabs each of compressed dried leaves, all suspected to be Indian hemp.
