An ICT center at the Atta Mills Centre for Excellence named posthumously after Ghana’s deceased president is reported to be abandoned for several months for lack of furniture at the facility.

Reports from the facility say that students who want to use the center for lessons have neither chairs nor tables sit on.

For now, students have to carry their desks from their classrooms to the ICT center if they want to comfortably enjoy a lesson. Students complained bitterly about the stress they have to endure to have ICT classes at the center. It’s very difficult for us to learn with the computers because we always have to carry our own desks from our various classes to the ICT Lab to help us study the subject,” students told journalists.

According to a staff of the school, the facility was in perfect condition when it was newly commissioned. However, the desks were moved to commission another ICT lab in 2016 per an ‘order from above’. “We had a call from above that our computer desks were needed to commission another school. Since then we’ve not received them back,” he said.

Ebenezer Gilbert Nii Narh. MP for the Ablekuma Central Constituency expressed his gross dissatisfaction at the distress of the students.

He pledged journalists and students that he would see to the immediate replacement of the furniture to ease learning for the students.
