Germany finally beat Italy in competitive game

Germany Controlled the game in the first half, but Italy were resolute at the back to foil their attacking threats

Mesut Ozil put Germany in the driving seat in the 65 minute, before Jerome Boateng who had been faultless throughout committed a penalty after he handled the ball in the 18-yard box and Bonucci scored from the resultant penalty to draw Italy level in the 78 minute.

The goal brought Italy, who were chasing their shadows to come into the game and neutralised the German attack. The game failed to produce any more goal within the 90 minutes of play.

The 30 minutes of extra time once again couldn’t produce a winner despite Germany's persistence to get the match winner.
