Kotoko scored in each half of the game through Dauda Mohammed, who scored his first goal in the second round of the league and an own goal.
Asante Kotoko showed their intentions to win the game, right after the referee Bortey blasted his first whistle. They pinned Liberty Professionals to the wall and swung their passes together to the delight of the spectators. Dauda Mohammed and Kwame Boateng were denied several opportunities to break the deadlock and on some occasions missed from close range.
However, the incessant pressure from the visitors paid off in the 40th minute: Dauda Mohammed opened the scoring when he latched onto a loose ball and put it beyond the reach of the goalkeeper. It was a big sigh of relief to the Asante Kotoko marksman who had gone goal drought throughout the second half of the season.
