Michael Osei, the assistant coach of Asante Kotoko was named the interim coach of the Kumasi giants to replace David Duncan on match day 6.

Osei turned the season of the club around by propelling them to lift themselves from the drop zone to the third position on the league log, after the end of the first half of the season.

However, Asante Kotoko have been struggling in the second round, having won just 1 in 7 league games, (D4, L2).

The poor start to the second round has compelled the management team of the club to consider the appointment of Malik Jabir as the Technical Director of the club.

People do not know who Malik Jabir is; Malik is Mr Kotoko. He has coached both Opoku Nti and George Kennedy. He was the assistant coach of the victorious Kumasi Asante Kotoko team in 1993, so he knows Kumasi Asante Kotoko inside out,” he told Class FM.

“I don’t want to talk about Malik being confirmed for the role, but I think everyone associated with the club knows his standing within the club. He is someone interim head coach Michael Osei respects a lot.

“Malik, as a technical director, I think he will help Michael Osei to change a lot of things at the club. Everyone in Ghana football knows and respects him, and I am personally very happy for him,” he said”.
