Their opening ten games of the season was a poor one for a team that has so much experience in the Premier League. Then the next next ten. And another poor ten games. The entire season was poor.

Some part was attributed to a massive reshuffle that included Ghana international Jordan Ayew joining his elder brother Andre Ayew in England from French Ligue 1 team FC Lorient.

Big mistakes, massive errors that reoccurred in the entire season brought one of Premier League’s most iconic names to their knees at Old Trafford.

Manchester United, who are looking for a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League showed no mercy to a Villa team that has been destined for relegation for so long.

It was official after 90 minutes of football, Aston Villa have been relegated from the English Premier League by a Marcus Rashford goal for Timothy Fosu-Mensah’s Manchester United.

Jordan Ayew started the game for his Aston Villa team and showed his usual liveliness despite his side’s entirely poor show this season.

From the onset of the game, Manchester United dominated with no hope or real chance for Eric Black’s Aston Villa.

Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the game after 32 minutes of play with Louis van Gaal’s team dominating in most part of the game.

Rudy Gestede’s introduction into the game for Aston Villa however nearly cost Manchester United their quest to closing in on Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League spot race.

Jordan Ayew broke through the back of the Manchester United defence to unselfishly lay a pass to his teammate in somewhat an open goal but a brilliant defensive clearance by Daley Blind ensured the home team kept their one goal advantage.

Aston Villa’s shot from a corner kick rattled the post to scare Manchester United fans.

But it was not meant to be. Like a Premier League stay has not been meant to be for Jordan Ayew’s Aston Villa all season.

Dutch-born Ghanaian Timothy Fosu-Mensah, a target for Avram Grant’s Black Stars team also played a part in nailing the final verdict on Jordan Ayew’s Aston Villa team. The 18-year-old replaced Juan Mata in the dying minutes of the game.

The mistakes did cost. The errors did hurt. Players were down hearted. Fans were heart broken. In the end, it was all but coming soon enough, Jordan Ayew’s Aston Villa have been relegated from the English Premier League to the English Championship.
