His attack on the Progressive People’s Party flagbearer follows insinuations by Dr Ndoum that Mr Mubarak only realised he hails from Kumbungu after he failed to get elected as the Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma North constituency in the Greater Accra region.

“In this election reject people who are coming home after realizing that other places have rejected them. You must never remember your hometown only because it is time for elections,” Dr Ndoum told voters in Kumbungu, referring to Mr Mubarak.

However, in a Facebook post Friday, the NDC parliamentary candidate said his principles are being “questioned by a man who betrayed his country, took up citizenship of another country just so he can get a foot in the door.”

“I won’t take lectures on principles from a traitor,” he added.

Dr Ndoum, who is touring the Northern Region, asked voters to vote for candidate who understand their needs and concerns, not people who only about their votes.

“In the 2016 elections, we must resolve to vote for people who have demonstrated the track record of ability to do not people who campaign to be voted for because they come from the area,” he said.

Mr Mubarak lost the Ablekuma seat to the New Patriotic Party’s Joe Appiah in the 2012 election, pulling just 38.8% of the votes. Joe Appiah pulled 60% of the votes.
