Kwabena Agyepong likely to be suspended

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Kwabena Agyapong on Thursday had to offer apologies to the party’s disciplinary committee following a petition to have him suspended from the party.

This was after he met the party’s disciplinary committee, Accra-based Joy FM has reported.

The General  Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong had last month faced the Disciplinary Committee of the party over a petition filed by four members of the party.

The petition to the disciplinary committee dated November 2, 2015 and copied to the National Executive Committee, National Council of Elders, the leader and presidential candidate Nana AKufo-Addo, the Acting National Chairman, and the NPP Deputy General Secretary accused Mr Agyepong of holding out Paul Afoko as the National Chairman contrary to the position of NEC and the NC.

The committee is however expected to present its final decision to the steering committee of the party.

This comes after three hours of meeting with the General Secretary and his petitioners.

Meanwhile, the flagbearer of the party Nana Akufo-Addo has since Thursday afternoon, been engaged in a crunch meeting with members of the steering committee, as they await the final verdict of the disciplinary committee.

Other members of the steering committee at the meeting included the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, Acting Chairman Freddy Blay and Minority Leader in Parliament Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.
