Thomas Partey revels in Audi Cup win with Atletico Madrid
Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey ended pre-season on a high note with his Atletico Madrid side, following their Audi Cup final win over Liverpool.
The 23-year-old played 73-minutes as Diego Simeone’s charges emerged 5-4 winners on penalties, having held the English giants to a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Partey started at right-back and was involved in attacks on the right flank of the Rojiblancos, linking up well with his colleagues in the Liverpool half.
Keidi Bare opened the scoring for the Spanish side with a thumping header, before Roberto Firmino leveled the score for Liverpool with just seven minutes of normal time to play.
Both sides could not add to the scoreline, leading to a penalty shootout which was won by Atletico Madrid, following a costly miss by Jordan Henderson for the Reds.
Diego Simeone’s side lifted the Audi Cup after emerging 5-4 winners in the shootout, and Partey could not hide his joy after the triumph.

It’s certainly a good time be an Atleti player, and Partey looks to be enjoying the moment.
