A South African twitter has caused confusion among social media users after she posted a photo of a man she claimed was a 50-year-old ex-convict who has decided to go back to school and enrolled at grade one.

The twitter user, @TakaTina1 shared the photo on Wednesday with a caption: "Big up to Bab' uMthetwa (50) who decided to catch up on what he missed out after completing his 45 year sentence at St Albans Correctional Service. Today he begins grade1. Takes a lot of guts."

Inasmuch as the story sounded inspirational, some social media users have cast doubt on its veracity, claiming the facts as stated in @TakaTina1’s tweet do not add up.

Attempts to clarify the post did not help matters as she ended up contradicting herself. She first said Bab' uMthetwa's mother gave birth to him while serving a prison term, and he had to finish the sentence on her behalf when she died.

However, when some twitter users insisted the story was far-fetched, she again said: "No. His mother was,he was inside his mother, she was pregnant. She died while giving birth so he was forced to complete his mother's sentence since bekhona when the crime occurred."
