Teenage student strangles his 16-yr-old girlfriend over sex
Police have arrested a 17-year-old student of Irving Nimitz High School, Texas, US, for strangling his lover and fellow student, 16-year-old Rachel Jean Wiest.
Jacob Lee Boyd is facing a murder charge for killing Wiest who was found unconscious in a garage on Monday afternoon.
Wiest was rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, where doctors later pronounced her dead.
According to a police spokesman, James McLellan, Boyd had dated his victim before the incident.
According to an arrest affidavit, Boyd killed his girlfriend at a friend's house where they had met to discuss.
"He asked her to have sex with him and she told him 'no,'" the arrest warrant affidavit stated.
"She tried to leave the garage, but he blocked the door and wouldn't allow her to leave."
He then seized her phone and threw it to the ground.
"When she bent over to pick up the phone, he approached her from behind and placed her in a chokehold," the warrant said.
"He then took her to the ground and held her for five to 10 minutes until — according to Boyd — her face turned blue and she stopped twitching."
Boyd then told his classmate what he had done.
The classmate called emergency services while his mother tried to resuscitate Wiest.
Police Superintendent, Jose Parra, said after a news conference that the killing is shocking.
"We are all shocked," Parra said.
"We are all saddened. We are all heartbroken."
A neighbour said Boyd was crying when the police "led him away in cuffs."
He is being held at Irving City Jail.
