This is the perfect cure to a hangover...according to science
A night of booze with the crew may seem like a good idea but the morning after is never fun.
The headaches, nausea and general feeling of unwellness that follows a night of serious booze is an after-effect we could all do without, and it looks like a solution (one backed by science at that) may have finally been found.
According to a recent research by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CISRO), Asian pear juice could significantly reduce the effects of a hangover.
The Australian government's scientific research organization found that test subjects who consumed just under 1 cup of Asian pear juice before drinking alcohol had fewer and/or diminished hangover symptoms the next day.
In addition, the greatest improvement was seen in subjects' ability to concentrate, also the juice's anti-inflammatory effect meant reduce headaches.
Although the reason behind the effectiveness of the Asian pear juice isn't clear just yet, the study's lead researcher, Manny Noakes, suggests that pear juice contains enzymes that are necessary for speeding up alcohol metabolism and slightly inhibiting alcohol absorption.
So how does this remedy work? It's best consumed BEFORE the booze. So the next time you're out on a booze spree, be sure to down a glass of Asian pear juice and you're good to go.
