Dick Advocaat has agreed to take over as manager of Sunderland after earlier rejecting a chance to coach the club on a permanent basis.
The 67-old was hired by Sunderland with the club deep in relegation waters.
Advocaat led the club to a miraculously escape from relegation but announced afterwards the will be quitting club football.
The dutch coach according to report had promised his wife that he would retire from club management after saving the Black Cats from relegation.
But after being persuaded by Ellis Short, the owner of Sunderland, Advocaat has made a sensationally return to sign a one-year-contract with the club.
"The club kept calling. The owner (Ellis Short) would not let go," Advocaat told .
"So I decided to sign a new deal. They think I'm still fit enough and personally I also feel fine. And it's a wonderful club."
"After a lot of discussions with Ellis and Lee, they convinced me that I am the right man for the club.
"It was a great feeling to be part of Sunderland in the last few months, the experience was something very special and after talking with Lee, Ellis and of course my family, we all agree it is the right decision."
