NPP's demonstrations was to sell paraphernalia - NDC

National Communications Officer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Solomon Nkansah has described as ‘fundraising’, a series of demonstrations organized by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against the ongoing load shedding.

According to him, demonstrations championed by the opposition party are not necessarily to express their displeasure but to sell party paraphernalia to its members in order to raise funds to support the party.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, he said, "Even their recent Wongbo  and the Kumasi Yabr3 demo are examples of fundraising demo for the party."

His comment comes at the back of a vigil planned by some celebrities in Ghana against 'dumsor'.

Celebrities in the country championed by actress Yvonne Nelson and hiplife artist Sarkodie  are set to hit the streets of Accra to register their frustration about the intense power crisis that has crippled the country.

He appealed to the celebrities to rescind their decision to stage a vigil against the dumsor since it will benefit the NPP adding that “even people will think that they are working for them (NPP)”.

He noted that, “The opposition in the country is always making noise with this dumsor issue. They even sell shirts from GHC 20 to GHC 10 for its members just to raise funds for the party.”
