Police re-arrest three convicts in Hiawa jailbreak

Three inmates of the Hiawa prisons in  the Amenfi Central District  in the Western Region who broke jail have been re-arrested after they escaped from cell.

Narrating the incident, the Commander in-charge of the Hiawa Prisons, ASP Gbadre Cephas said the inmates broke jail on the 28th April, 2015.

The suspected criminals were reported to be hiding at Tarkwa Bremang, a town close to the Hiawa prisons.

He added that the three men were doing small scale mining there to get "a little resource" to escape when one of them stole gallons of diesel  when  locals in the town reported to the police who moved in to arrest them.

According to the commander, when  one of the prisoner  was about to be lynched, he confessed that ,he was an inmate of  Hiawa Prisons and the mob subsequently sent him to police station. His other colleague inmates were also re-arrested.

Meanwhile, 13 criminals were reported to have escaped from jail in four cells within two months.

Seven of them at Denu in the Volta Region, of which five have been recaptured, two at the Tepa Police Station with the latest at Asiwa and Nsuta.
