Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng has disclosed that he rejected a move to Inter Milan due to his close ties with neighbours AC Milan.

The 30-year-old moved to the Serie A to play for AC Milan in the summer of 2010, and helped the club to many trophies, including the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup.

Boateng then joined Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga, before returning for a second stint with the Rossoneri in 2016.

The attacker still has fond memories of his time at the San Siro, and has revealed that he was actually once approached by rivals Inter Milan but he turned down the move due to his close ties with AC Milan.

“I could’ve dealt with certain moments better, especially in my third season, but I lacked someone off the field who could help me,” the former Portsmouth player is quoted as saying by Goal.com.

“Nonetheless, I have no regrets, as I played important games, won and scored at the last second and heard the San Siro roar for my goal one last time.

“It’s true, Inter wanted me, but as far as I was concerned, there was only ever one Milan. I could’ve chosen other clubs too, not just Inter, but I’m a man of my word.”

Boateng’s second spell with AC Milan, though, did not end well, as he was released after just a season.
