The Black Starlets exited the tournament in the quarter-final stage after losing by two goals to one to fellow West Africans Mali.

The result meant that Ghana’s hopes of winning a third U-17 World Cup trophy have been dashed, after the country also lost in the U-17 Africa tournament to the same opponents.

The entire contingent touched down at the KotokaInternational Airport (KIA) on Tuesday afternoon following the team’s exit.

Black Starlets coach Paa Kwesi Fabin thanked Ghanaians for their support, explaining that the team did its best to win the tournament, but it was just not to be.

Ghana has won the U-17 World Cup twice, and last represented at the tourney in 2007, before participating in this year’s edition.
