The Nobel Prize for Literature 2017 has been awarded to eminent British writer Kazuo Ishiguro.
The English writer has written some of the most evocative novels of the past two decades
The Japanese born writer was announced at the headquarters of the Nobel Academy in Stockholm on Thursday. His win surprised several who had tipped Kenyan writer Ngugi wa Thiong'o to win the prize.
In their citation the Academy said Ishiguro," in novels of great emotional force, has uncovered the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world”.
Ishiguro has been nominated four times for the Man Booker Prize and his 1989 novel Remains of the Day is one of the most highly regarded pieces of modern literature.

His seventh novel, The Buried Giant, was published on 3 March 2015 in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
