Donald Trump Jr. tells people to go out and vote for Virginia's Republican candidates on the wrong day

  • Donald Trump Jr. told voters on Twitter to cast ballots for Virginia's Republican gubernatorial candidate, Ed Gillespie, and the entire GOP ticket on Wednesday.
  • Election day is Tuesday.
  • Trump's tweet was still up hours after he originally posted.

Donald Trump Jr. on Tuesday pushed for voters in Virginia to cast ballots for the Republican gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie and the entire GOP ticket "tomorrow," meaning Wednesday.

Election Day, however, is Tuesday.

"Let's take @EdWGillespie across the finish line tomorrow!" Trump tweeted Tuesday morning. "Virginia: get out and vote for Ed & entire @GOP ticket #VAGov #VA."

On Monday, Trump posted multiple tweets calling for voters to cast ballots for Gillespie and Virginia Republicans "tomorrow," which was correct. It appears as if he mistakenly kept the same date language in his tweet on Tuesday from the day prior.

Still, Trump had not taken down his incorrect tweet hours after he originally posted it.

CNN's Jake Tapper was quick to notice the mistake.

"Think you mean today not tomorrow —" he replied.

The actor Seth Rogen joined in the thread after Tapper.

"Dude..." he wrote.

Gillespie faces off with the Democratic gubernatorial nominee Ralph Northam, Virginia's lieutenant governor, in the Tuesday election, which is billed as the premier race of 2017. Polls show Northam with a small lead over Gillespie, who formerly served as chair of the Republican National Committee.
