Even though the couple started dating in 2017, the two stars actually met years ago, at a baseball game in 2005. After going through separate relationships, they reconnected in late 2016 and have been going steady since 2017.
Here's a complete timeline of their relationship.
Rodriguez and Lopez first met back in 2005, when the singers then-husband, Marc Anthony, threw out the first pitch at a Mets versus Yankees game.
In winter 2016, Lopez spotted Rodriguez in Beverly Hills and they reconnected.
Lopez was eating lunch after filming a promo for her NBC television show "Shades of Blue." She saw Rodriguez walk by the restaurant and tapped him on the shoulder after going outside.
"I almost yelled out 'Alex,' but I am the shyest person when it comes to things like that," she told Vanity Fair in October 2017.
For their first date, Lopez said that Rodriguez "was nervous, and it was really cute."

"I didn't know if it was a date," Rodriguez told Vanity Fair . "Maybe we were seeing each other at night because of her work schedule. I went in uneasy, not knowing her situation."
Either way, he said, "It would be incredibly productive for me to sit with one of the smartest, greatest women in the world ... I thought it would be a win-win no matter what."
Lopez and Rodriguez said they bonded over their many similarities.
"We are very much twins," Rodriguez told Vanity Fair . "We're both Leos, we're both from New York, we're both Latino, and about 20 other things."
The couple also both achieved massive success at a young age and subsequently had to face challenges that often accompany such meteoric rises.
"We put so much pressure on ourselves to be great, to be the best all the time," Lopez told Vanity Fair . "We understood that about each other. When we came together, it was, 'Oh my God, I was the same way.'"

Both stars have spoken about how well their children (from previous relationships) get along.
Rodriguez told People that Lopez is "a great role model" for his children.
"They look at her like she's the Messiah," he said.

"This is the first relationship Ive been where I feel like we really make each other better," Lopez told HOLA! USA.
She added : "We complement each other, and there's really pure, true love. Just wanting to support the other person and make them happy."
In April 2018, the couple purchased a $15.32 million penthouse in New York City.

The penthouse is located at 432 Park Avenue, which is known as the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere.
Lopez and Rodriguez reportedly decided on a three-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom abode that occupies half of the 36th floor, and used a limited liability company to anonymously dole out $15.32 million for it.
Lopez said that she didnt want to rush into marriage with Rodriguez because she "made plenty of mistakes" in her past.

She also said that her life was currently focused on her work and her two children.

Lopez said that her former relationships didn't work because of her, rather than her partners.
"It didn't have to do with anybody else but me it was about me figuring out me," the actress and singer told Harper's Bazaar for their February 2019 issue . "Until you learn to love yourself, you can't completely love [someone else] in a way that is pure and true."
Lopez's previous relationships with Ojani Noa, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Ben Affleck, Casper Smart, and Marc Anthony led her to have a healthy partnership with Rodriguez.
"Once you do that, you can have relationships that are based on love and respect, that are supportive and nourishing," she said. "There's an evolution there that had to happen for me. I feel like I'm in a better place now."
In November 2018, Ellen DeGeneres grilled Lopez on the possibility of walking down the aisle with Rodriguez.

You make me feel like a teenager starting out all over again ... Every time I think I have you pegged, you surprise me in the most wonderful ways reminding me how blessed I am to have found you now in this moment at this time... our time..."
Rodriguez also praised Lopez in his own post , saying that "it feels like we have been together forever."
"We have done it all together and every moment with you is cherished," he continued. "Where this road will take us next is unknown but there is no one else I would rather have by my side. The journey is just beginning and I am excited for what's ahead."
