Ronaldo wins fifth Ballon d'Or award

Real Madrid talisman, Cristiano Roanldo has retained the Balon d’Or he won last year after beating his fiercest rival, Lionel Messi and PGS star Neymar.

Portuguese skipper wins the accolade to go all square with Lionel Messi on five Balon d’or each.

The prolific goal scorer helped Real Madrid to win the UEFA Champions League back-to-back and winning the La Liga for the first time since 2012 before climaxing a successful year with both the UEFA Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup.

Speaking after the awards, Ronaldo admitted, “The trophies helped [him] win this award”.

The award gala was held in France capital of Paris.
