Ghana to build another airport to make transportation easier in the country
Ghana has projected to construct another airport in the Western Region which will enhance easy transportation.
This follows a revelation from country’s Aviation Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah. The airport will be in the Western Region.
In November this year, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta while presenting the country’s budget for 2019 to parliament revealed that the country will soon have its own airline. Hence the need to get more airports where the flights can operate.
Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah who was speaking to reporters said that the initiative will go a long way to compliment government activities to boost socio-economic activities in the region.
He said, “The government is planning to build the new Takoradi airport because we believe that the region contributes a lot to the nation’s GDP, and a lot of businesses will like to have some type of investment in this area.”
He further added that, “We will like to provide individuals and organisations with the safest means of transport to move from all parts of the world to this place.”
It is anticipated that the new airport will have a modern terminal building, a cargo centre and a longer runway compared to the current airport the region has.
