With little competition, the final chapter in the M. Night Shyamalan trilogy has owned the domestic box office for multiple weeks and Super Bowl weekend was no different.

The movie took in an estimated $9.5 million over the weekend, giving it a domestic total of over $88 million (its global total is just shy of $200 million).

"Glass" matched the previous movie in the franchise, "Split," with three straight weekends at the top of the box office. But with much lower figures for "Glass." The take for "Split" in its third weekend in theaters was $14.4 million .

These two movies were the only ones to do consistent business at the multiplex in January, and that's now bleeding into February. The only new release this weekend from a major studio, Sony's "Miss Bala," had no chance competing as it only took in $6.7 million on over 2,200 screens.

Expect business to pick up a little this coming weekend as Warner Bros. releases "The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part."
